Week Five

Isaac had another big week this week, first he got to spend time with his Aunt Jen and his cousin Arielle which was lots of fun for him and Jamie as we observed what is in store for us 6 months from now (a lot more eating, smiling, BIG poops, and mobility!!) We took lots of walks with our matching Baby Bjorn's, took a road trip to Delaware to see his Great-Grandparents, Great-Uncle Jeff, and second Cousin Susan - it was great to spend time with them AND both babies slept for the car rides and we managed to miss rush hour both ways, making it a fantastic trip!! We went to the doctor for his first shot (more painful for us then him) and to find out that his non-stop eating is working and he is almost 10 pounds already. He watched the Presidential debate with our old neighbors Anne & Shay (he agreed that Obama won), and he finally decided he likes it in the Bouncy Seat, for five minutes at least! On Saturday morning Bill got to spend some QT alone with Isaac, while Jamie got to take a little break for a manicure and pedicure. At the end of the week Isaac got to spend time with his other Great-Grandparents who flew up from Florida and spent a wonderful few days with him. Overall - another great week!!

Week 4

Isaac had a busy fourth week. Aunt Allison came to visit - primarily in her capacity as an Aunt, but secondarily in her professional capacity (as a speech pathologist) to evaluate potential reflux issues (formerly referred to as colic). Apparently, Isaac does have a bit of reflux - a thousand thank you's to the inventor of Gripe Water (the homeopathic elixir that seems to soothe Isaac's stomach). Aunt Alli was also able to confirm what Isaac's Mom and Dad already knew - he is a genius, instinctively capable of doing something with his throat that Aunt Alli says the smart kids figure out to help lessen the effects of the reflux. Alli was also impressed with the enlightened football elevation technique Bill used to keep the reflux at bay while Isaac slept. (See picture below).

Jamie and Isaac also spent some time enjoying the fall weather - taking walks to starbucks (he too is grumpy before his morning caffeine fix), and meeting up with her prenatal yoga crew for lunch and to do stroller laps around Lincoln Park and soothe the savage beasts (Wilson and Baby Werewolf). Finally, Friday arrived and Bill was excited to be finished with work and ready to play with Isaac.

Friday night Isaac had a play date with his brightly-colored friend Ashton and his parents Josh and Julia Kramer. Julia made a delicious dinner and Isaac decided to depart from his typical routine and actually let Mom and Dad eat dinner while seated and at the same time - a seldom occuring event.

Saturday Isaac took his show on the road and went to pick up some delicious meats from Polyface Farms in the morning, then out to breakfast at a Hill institution named Jimmy T's. Later he went on a long walk to Eastern Market and to hang out on the Capitol lawn - and to offer testimony on the financial crisis, an issue he clearly comprehends at a higher level than the republicans.

Week Three

Week Three was another eventful week for Isaac - Isaac decided he likes the bath this week, so he now gets one every day (which Aunt Alli will be very proud of) and we received and have become addicted to using the Ergo carrier which allows Isaac to be held close to us while having our hands free to be functional - a great advancement for the week!! As for visitors: Grandma Gerri finished out her weeklong visit with some amazing organizing time, a mani/pedi (where Isaac got to try out the massage chair), and babysitting while Jamie & Bill went for a night out sans Isaac (very nice!!). We had a bunch of friends over for the first Sunday of the NFL season (where Bill cooked a wild boar that weighed 3 times as much as Isaac), and Isaac got to go to a brunch with all of Jamie's prenatal yoga girls and their baby boys - which was chaotic and lots of fun (at least for the girls, the boys didn't appear to be aware of each other); Grandma Sherry arrived next and was a great help with Isaac (who recently decided to be a bit more fussy due to some stomach issues) and around the house, including camping out on the couch to do the midnight feeding and give Jamie and Bill some much needed sleep. Papa Rich arrived soon after, at which point Isaac settled down and slept a lot more - it's unclear whether this was as a result of Papa Rich's calming presence or the benadryl spiked homemade diaper rash cream Grandma Sherry made :) Great Grandma Charlotte also came for the day which was very special, and included a nice walk to Eastern Market and lunch. Finally, Grandma Roberta and Grandpa Bill came for a visit en route to their dual birthday celebration weekend in Williamsburg (Happy birthday!!) and got to try their hand at settling the fussy Isaac (who coincidentally returned to form after discontinued use of the "special" diaper cream), helped give him a bath, and Roberta took the 6am feeding, again giving Jamie & Bill some (still) much needed sleep. Finally, Uncle Jim and Rox came for a quick visit in the morning to pick up Roberta and Bill, have brunch and meet Isaac (who unfortunately slept through their visit). Overall it was a great week!

Week Two

Isaac's second week was relatively eventful - a few trips in the stroller to Eastern Market for some shopping and lunch outside (he slept through them); play dates with Ashton Kramer, 6 months, and Amos Daniels, 3 weeks (he slept through both), another bath that included spraying Grandma with geyser-style pre-bath pee-pee (he apparently doesn't discriminate); the official losing of the belly button stump (gross); the development of the most adorable pouty-face we've ever seen; a second trip to the pediatrician (he's eating like a champ and back up to his birth weight); and social visits with many of our friends. He also was lucky enough to get a long visit with Grandma who has been a great help to Jamie, Bill, Isaac and Wilson (who was getting a little neglected and now remembers what multiple walks a day feel like!). Finally, he was indoctrinated with Bill's obsession with the Giants, and watched the first game of the season (through closed eyes). Below are pictures of all the week's events.
