Welcome Baby Caitlin

Caitlin Hope Anderson was born on July 26th at 8:53am weighing in at 9.7 pounds measuring 21 inches long (1.1 pounds and 1/2 inch more than her brother!) The experience at Georgetown was infinitely better than the one at GW and everything went smoothly and relatively painlessly. Below are some pics from Caitlin's first few days - including her first visitors and time with her big brother Isaac who was so sweet and gentle with her and couldn't do enough to help (including pressing every button in the hospital room).

July Fun ... and Isaac's first dentist trip

We've had some low-key weekends trying to enjoy our last days of quiet, getting in lots of QT with Isaac and getting the house ready for baby girl. I can't believe we're only a little over a week away from being a family of 4! We are still really enjoying the pool - and loving the new glider we got for the baby's room. Isaac is almost 23 months and as my friend Genevieve has said about every age so far - I LOVE THIS AGE!! He is talking so much and singing all the time, he has such a cute little personality and I am cherishing every minute with him. He finishes all Bill's sentences when he reads his favorite books, he is getting great at the ABCs song and when you count 1, 2, 3 - he can finish all the way up to 10! I really hope bringing home the baby doesn't change our happy little man's personality ...

Because we want to keep life for Isaac as stable as possible, we are keeping Cesi on after we have the baby, and we couldn't be happier with that decision. As you can see from the pictures below, he is having a great summer with Cesi and his friends, including lots of pool time, playdates with Lussa, Cole, and Cesi's nephew Noah, and even a field trip to the zoo this week that looks like it was a blast.

Finally, Isaac had his first trip to the dentist this week. We went to a local dentist who is also a friend from the Hill. She has a baby a little older than Isaac and a new baby only a couple of weeks old. She came in to pick up some baby gifts while we were there and couldn't resist examining Isaac, which worked out great because he was totally comfortable with her. Cesi came with me to the appointment because I got my teeth cleaned too - between the two of us, we pulled it off without any drama and no cavities for either of us!

4th of July

We started the celebration on July 3rd continuing our tradition of going down to the Mall and watching the rehearsal show for the Capitol Fourth. They do a full rehearsal every year and you get to enjoy the show with a significantly smaller crowd, we've seen some pretty cool shows over the years. This year may be our last however -- first of all, the crowds are getting bigger, and second of all the "stars" didn't even show up, and we watched many stand-ins lipsinc along with recorded music. We still made the best of it and had a fun picnic with some friends from our neighborhood and Rachael and Bill's Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Faryar.
For the 4th of July, we wandered around eastern market getting provisions for the delicious bbq we planned and then spent the afternoon in the pool and playing games. We had a full house with Bill's brother Evan and his new wife joining the family fun too. We had a crab fest for lunch, and then Bill made delicious ribs for dinner before we all (even me) climbed up the ladder onto the roof to watch the fireworks from our house. It's not as cool as being there, but it's still a great view, and Isaac got to sleep through the whole thing! Overall, a great weekend.
