First, the Cherry Blossoms -- although it's still cold, apparently all these gorgeous trees need are a few days of spring to bloom. In any event, all the tourists definitely got the memo, because the Mall was packed, but Bill's super-secret locals-only parking spot trick still worked and we got to check it out with no problem. Isaac and Caitlin loved it, and we got some cute pics. The best pictures are definitely of Rachael though. We had a great weekend visit with her and Isaac was so excited to have her in town, that he kept telling everyone she was "my Ray-Ray".
Bill and Isaac both got a much-needed haircut this weekend. Isaac did great sitting in the seat all by himself, and even helped out cleaning up afterward. I don't love the haircut, but Bill reminds me that I hate it every time we cut off Isaac's curls and then we get used to it. So hopefully I'll get used to it...he's still pretty cute anyway though :)
Isaac has been busy becomming a little man. He still goes on the potty once a day to get his m&m but has no real interest in doing it the rest of the day. I even bought him Thomas the Train underwear to inspire him, but to no avail. He's doing great learning his letters and can name almost all of them now, and surprises us with new fun stories, especially about about his imaginary friend "doddledeidel" daily. He's loving riding on the back of Bill's bike, especially when Bill jumps curbs and speeds over bumps. He also started swimming lessons and is excited to get back in the pool every Saturday.
Caitlin on the other hand is also busy crawling ALL OVER THE PLACE (see picture below of her checking out Wilson's food, much to his dismay) and just generally being adorable (see bikini picture below). She also had her first (double) ear infection this past week AND ALSO got her first tooth. Amazingly she was still relatively pleasant and smiley (until her fever reached 102.8) and is taking her amoxicillan like a champ.
She has also started pulling herself up to standing and I woke up and looked at the monitor this morning to see her standing up (first picture) and since we hadn't lowered her crib yet, she almost gave me a heart attack as it looked like she could topple over very easily. Needless to say, we lowered the crib that morning and this (second picture) is her sad reaction to her new much-lower vantage point.
Isaac and Caitlin are still really cute together, getting along great, especially when the DVD player is on. He loves giving her hugs and kisses and whenever she cries he says "don't cry baby girl" - and yesterday he said, "Mommy, I don't like it when she cries, it makes me nervous" (I think that one came from Cesi). On Saturday we all had a good time with the yoga families at a party where Isaac and the boys made birdfeeders (and ran and played like crazy little boys--with paint all over themselves) and the girls stood around and looked cute.
Finally, we had a fun visit with my cousin Jared and his wife Stephanie and their daughter Blake who is Isaac's age. Isaac and Blake got along great, and she even let him play with her hair when he got sleepy pre-nap (he usually plays with his or mine). We can't wait to see them again in June in Florida!
