Truck touch and Father's Day

We went to DC's version of the "Truck Touch" which was definitely on a grander scale at RFK than the one we went to in Cheverly. This one had all kinds of municipal vehicles including a police horse, a helicopter, a robot and lots of other cool trucks. Unfortunately, much to Isaac's dismay, there was no school bus. So between the lack of the coolest vehicle EVER and the extreme heat, Isaac wasn't loving it and we didn't last very long. Just long enough to take some cool pictures and work up enough sweat to race directly to the pool!


We had a fun father's day weekend with Papa Rich, and he and Isaac got in some good bonding time. He accompanied us to our friend Aidan's 2nd birthday party and took us shopping for a new double stroller (the first new baby to-do actually crossed off the list - yay!!), and we apparently tired him out - check out the pic of Dad and Bill snoozing on the couch while the 9-month preggars lady stayed awake and chased Isaac around!! :)

On Sunday we picked Mom-Mom up from the train station and had a delicious brunch at Tabard Inn. It was so wonderful to get to spend the day with her and watch her and Isaac play - we are so happy she made the trip in to see us! After they left, we enjoyed some family QT, including swimming, a yummy dinner and a surprise massage for Bill ;)

Pool Parties

We bought what we thought was a new baby pool for Isaac, but when we blew it up on Father's Day we realized it was HUGE (8 foot by 8 foot). Instead of returning it, we decided it could be fun for the whole family - and it is!! So far, we've been swimming in it a lot to try to cool off in this record-breaking heat, with Isaac warming up to the swimming thing a lot quicker than when we take him to the big pools with lots of kids. Last week, Cesi and Carmen had a little swimming party for Isaac and Lussa and sent us lots of pictures and an adorable video of them laughing and splashing around (I can't get the video to upload though, will try again later).

In the afternoon, we had another pool party with 3 out of 4 of the yoga babies and mamas. Not sure who had more fun, the preggars ladies who could finally cool off in the 96 degree weather or the babies :)

Jamaica and Colorado

It's been a busy few weeks for the Anderson fam, getting in lots of travel right up until the 34 week deadline (in fact, the airline staff questioned whether it was actually too late for me to be travelling - a bit insulting if you ask me!!). First, Bill and I took a mini-babymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica for 5 days and had an amazingly relaxing and wonderful trip. We basically divided our time between floating in the gorgeous infinity pool, reading/napping in the hammock by the ocean, and getting massages at the spa. By the 5th day, I actually had ankles again!! It was a great trip for us, and Isaac was lucky enough to be spoiled rotten by Grandma Roberta and Grandpa Bill and Aunt Rachael who said he was an angel -- could be biased, but we'll take their word for it :)

The relaxation of our trip was erased somewhat by the fact that we came home to Isaac with pink eye AND an ear infection. Thanks to the quick thinking by the Andersons, Isaac had already been seen by the amazing Nurse Practitioner who makes housecalls on the Hill and already had a script for antibiotics. They successfully got him to take two doses, but we were not so lucky - he was supposed to take it twice a day for 10 days, and we would bribe, beg and ultimately wrestle to get it into his mouth only to watch him gag and throw up everything he ate along with the medicine a minute or two later. We went back to the pharmacist to have it flavored, but that didn't help, and then we got a new antibiotic and that didn't help either. Either he inherited the strong willedness of his parents or it was hurting his belly, but in any event, we gave up and hoped that the few doses he actually kept down helped as we took off for Boulder, Colorado for Bill's brother's wedding.

The wedding was beautiful, at a national park called Chautauqua, and Isaac was the ring bearer. Although he was too shy to walk down the aisle by himself, he looked adorable in his suit (which he wore for approximately 3 minutes) and had lots of fun on the cool bus Evan and Adrienne hired to schlep everyone around. He got in some good quality time with the Andersons at the wedding events and also some good quality time with Grandma Gerri and Aunt Alli and Uncle Chad who babysat and kept him entertained while we were at other family events.

On Sunday we got to enjoy some pool time with Karen, Gabe and Colin and the Schrutt clan and Isaac had fun hanging with his cousins and playing in the toystore that is the Schrutt house.

Overall it was a great trip and we were glad to be able to travel and spend so much time with our families. But when we got back, Isaac decided that he no longer was into sleeping -- so we spent the next three days fighting with him over naps and bedtime reverting back to the up at all hours days (which we realize we are so not ready to go back to!!). We made another trip to the doctor (because I refused to let him cry for hours if there was something medically wrong) who confirmed that he had no ear infection and there was nothing medically wrong. So, we had to actually let him cry it out for the next two nights which was heartbreaking, but successful - did I mention he is strong willed??!! Thankfully he is over it now and back to his old self and we are staying put for the next month or so and preparing for the next big event...
