Denver Trip

We took a 5-day trip to Colorado to take advantage of the Schrutt kids' spring break and get in some quality time with our Colorado family and friends. As is the case with every trip out there, we fit a lot into our days! We spent the first couple of days in Boulder with Uncle Evan and Aunt Adrienne for Evan's birthday, although Evan got sick so we had to cut our visit a little short. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures :(
We spent the rest of the time in Denver where Isaac and Caitlin loved the chaos and fun that is their cousins' house and got in some QT with Grandma and Aunt Alli too. We went to the Stapleton Easter Egg roll where the kids all cleaned up on eggs and candy. They all tried to decorate Easter Eggs later, but we had some technical difficulties (who left the Jewish mom in charge? Organic brown eggs apparently don't work with dye!!)

We also spent a lot of time hanging around the house playing and at Stapleton Central Park. The kids all had a great time together, especially Isaac and Arielle. It was so much fun to watch them all play together, Isaac was definitely overwhelmed at first, but got right in the middle of the fray after warming up.

We were lucky enough to get THREE visits in with the Kruse family, and while we did everything we could to encourage Karen to go into labor while we were there, the baby apparently needed another week to cook. Baby Cameron was born 5 days after we left and while we are very sad we couldn't meet him, we are psyched that baby and mama are healthy and happy!

We also got to spend a fun afternoon with Kristin who came right from the airport to make sure she could see us.

Finally, we spent lots of pajama time, bath time, and story time with the kids and with Grandma, which was priceless. Isaac spent one night sleeping over at Grandma's and had fun making pancakes and wreaking havoc on her house.

We had a great dinner at Grandma's that was meant to be a Passover Seder (more technical difficulties here, this time trying to get our east-coast time kids to stay awake and stay focused long enough to get through the Seder). We gave up on that idea and just had a fun dinner and group bath and took some great pictures of all the munchkins.

It was a great trip and we were (as always) sad to leave. It's a lot of travel though, but a huge part of the fun for Isaac is the transportation -- rental car shuttle to airport subway train to airplane to taxi home. The trip there was rough with very little sleeping and very many laps up and down the aisles for both Isaac and Caitlin, but on the way back both kids took turns sleeping in Isaac's car seat and Isaac watched dvd's on our laps, so Bill and I actually got to read and relax a little.
