First Snow and Halloween

The kids were super-excited to wake up to our first snow a few weeks ago during our first cold stretch.  But as is typical of Colorado weather, it melted the next day and we are back to 60-70 degree weather with sunny skies!

First time in the costumes was for a fun party with their cousins and Grandma at Karen & Gabe's

Grandma took the kids home to her house for a sleepover after the party which was fun for all of us!

On Halloween morning, Isaac had a costume parade party at school.  Bill and I were too late to sign up to bring candy in, so we got to be "parade monitors" which meant directing adorably-costumed toddler traffic.  We brought Caitlin to join in the fun and she made herself at home in Isaac's classroom.  She sat right in the middle of circle time, sat down at the crafts table after allowing Isaac to show her what to do and then grabbed herself a snack like she owned the place.  The whole morning was adorable, and I was really glad we could be a part of it.

After naptime, we had pumpkin carving time.  The kids were super-excited to get started, until they actually felt the inside of the pumpkin. 

And then they made these hilarious faces, and allowed Bill to finish the carving :)

After this, it was time to get dressed in costumes again.  Isaac was still excited to put Jake on, but Caitlin decided two times was enough for Minnie Mouse and made me find her Abby Cadaby costume from last year (which was mighty snug) so we could go trick or treating in Boulder.  In past years we had to buy bags and bags of candy to keep up with the volume of kids on the Hill.  This year we bought not one bag - no trick-or-treaters ventured to the farm :)

Then we met Aunt Alli, Uncle Chad and Sebastian (an adorable Batman) to hit the Pearl Street Mall, have some pizza, and visit some houses.  Initially we were concerned because it didn't seem like anyone was home, but I think we were just too early.  After our pizza break we found the right street (Mapleton) and had no trouble filling up the kids' sacks with candy.



Both kids were polite, but Isaac slowly pondered his choices before each choice (at every house) and refused repeats ("I got one of those at the last house").

As Isaac's candy bag got heavy with candy, he decided he needed to sit in the stroller.  Caitlin was just as happy to get a piggy back ride from Aunt Alli.

So we definitely missed our tradition of hitting Hilloween and East Capitol Street and meeting up with our friends, but we all had a great Halloween and were happy to start a new tradition.
