Hanukkah came early this year, the first night was the night before Thanksgiving. Grandma came up to celebrate with us and thrilled the kids with new sheets (Princesses for Caitlin and Ninjago for Isaac), and helped us begin the preparation for the Thanksgiving feast.
The morning of Turkey Day, Bill and I ran a 5k Turkey Trot in Louisville - something I've always wanted to do. I'm pretty sure the entire town was out (with their 2.2 kids and dogs), but it was a great run, and definitely helped make room for the feast!
For the actual night of - we had 21 people and it was almost entirely family (can't believe we have such a big LOCAL family!). Everyone contributed to the meal -- Bill deep fried two turkeys and a bunch of other stuff, Max made a third, and everyone else made various other delicious food that left us all VERY full. The kids were happily segregated at the kids' table with their cousins, and overall it was a wonderful night.

After dinner, we lit candles and the kids got to open their Hanukkah night #2 presents. They all made out like bandits, and it took only seconds for the floor to be covered in shredded wrapping paper with the kids shreiking and comparing treasures.
At the end of the night, we enjoyed the fire and moaned for awhile. The kids stayed up super-late and were excited to have a sleepover with their cousins.
The next morning, the kids were up VERY early playing with their new toys. But the best part about having big cousins around - they didn't wake us up! We got to sleep until 8 :) After having waffles and cleaning up the remaining mess - the kids had a swim party before the Schrutts hit the road back to Denver. Overall, a perfect holiday!
