Grandma and Grandpa's visit

We had another great summer visit with Grandma and Grandpa this year.  As always, when they arrive it seems like they'll be around for a long time, but with all the fun activities they pack in, the summer flies by!! This year, Bill and I took our grown-up vacation at the beginning of the summer, just a few days after G&G arrived.  The kids were psyched to be with them, and we were psyched to have a week in Hawaii! Here are some pics of us Face-timing and one of the beautiful beaches in Hawaii.

The first weekend we were gone, G&G took the kids to their first karate tournament.  It was mostly exhibition, but they had a blast, and they each got medals! Grandma Gerri met up with them too, and they all had lunch together after.

Later in the summer, G&G took the kids to the Renaissance festival in South Denver.  They spent the whole day down there, doing every activity possible (including riding camels, getting lost in a maze, bungee jumping, and candlemaking!), and had a great time.

Because they had a two-bedroom place in Louisville, the kids slept over a few times, always managing to work in a trip to Casa Allegre for tacos and Sweet Cow for ice cream, and just having lots of fun.  Here are some pictures from fun times over the summer, including Cate's birthday:

 

Finally, at the end of the summer, G&G took the kids on their annual adventure trip - this year it was to Breckenridge. They had lots of fun doing lots of activities, including hours in the pool and hot tub, going on hikes, trying out the summer tubing track, and more bungee jumping! I don't have many pics from their trip, but here are a few I got by text to reassure me they were alive and having fun :)

Although there were several whole-family gatherings over the summer (including a delicious anniversary feast), I don't seem to have any pictures of them :(  So, here's a picture of the crazies after some drinking and a game of blackjack (to explain the pirate situation, Bill was trying to creatively address his Sty).

Overall, it was a great summer, and we were sorry to see them leave.  Because Grandma retires this year, we're hoping they'll stay a little longer next year!
