Week Two

It's been a fun week having Bill home and getting to know Miss Caitlin, who definitely has a little (big?) personality on her. Isaac had a special treat because Lussa's family was on vacation - so while he was sad to be without his "girlfriend," he got to hang out with Charlie all week while Charlie's nanny was on vacation and Carmen subbed for Genevieve's family. They had lots of fun together and we got great pictures of their adventures all week.

Someone wise told us that when it comes to kids one plus one definitely does not equal two, and we are realizing the wisdom of that statement -- two kids is A LOT of work. They are also a lot of fun, and adorable, but on limited sleep, let's just say we were counting the minutes until Cesi arrived in the morning and until Isaac's bedtime at night. We had some challenges this week, presented by the fact that Caitlin is exhibiting some signs that she may have a stomach not unlike her brother's (which we REALLY hope is not the case) and Isaac is still having some "adjustment" tantrum issues, but overall things are still great and when we had time and the presence of mind to grab the camera, we got some cute pictures...

Finally, on Friday we went with Cesi to Isaac's music class which was lots of fun. He spends many hours of his days recently singing, and we wanted to see him in full effect at class. We weren't disappointed. He is definitely the most outgoing in the class, and tells the teacher exactly what he wants to sing and is first in line to collect instruments at the appropriate time. It was lots of fun to watch.
Finally, we got a huge rain storm on Friday afternoon and Cesi and I took Isaac outside to play in the puddles. She got great videos of him counting to three in English and Spanish and then jumping and hysterically laughing and screaming as he soaks himself and us. I've tried to post videos many times recently with no success, so if you get an error message, sorry...

Caitlin's First Week

I can't believe Caitlin is only a week old, it feels like she's been a part of our family forever. As my due date approached I was really hesitant about whether we were ready to have two kids and what kind of effect it would have on Isaac. Even though we've only been home as a family for a few days, I can't imagine it any other way. Caitlin is such a sweetie, doing lots of sleeping and LOTS of eating and making all kinds of fun faces (some of which we've documented below). Isaac is loving having Bill and I around and can't get close enough to Caitlin, giving her hugs and kisses, helping out by bringing me diapers and wipes and covering her with blankets, but is definitely acting out a bit as he realizes he doesn't have 100% of our attention. He's had fun bonding time with Bill, enjoying Daddy-Isaac dates for breakfast and Gymboree as they give Caitlin and I some time to rest in the mornings. They have also been getting some projects done around the house. I'm recovering quickly and we really are enjoying becoming a family of four (wow- sounds CRAZY!!). We've had lots of visitors (though we didn't capture any on film) and have eaten well with AMAZING meals dropped off or made for us by family. Check out some pictures from our last days in the hospital and Caitlin's first few days at home.

Welcome Baby Caitlin

Caitlin Hope Anderson was born on July 26th at 8:53am weighing in at 9.7 pounds measuring 21 inches long (1.1 pounds and 1/2 inch more than her brother!) The experience at Georgetown was infinitely better than the one at GW and everything went smoothly and relatively painlessly. Below are some pics from Caitlin's first few days - including her first visitors and time with her big brother Isaac who was so sweet and gentle with her and couldn't do enough to help (including pressing every button in the hospital room).

July Fun ... and Isaac's first dentist trip

We've had some low-key weekends trying to enjoy our last days of quiet, getting in lots of QT with Isaac and getting the house ready for baby girl. I can't believe we're only a little over a week away from being a family of 4! We are still really enjoying the pool - and loving the new glider we got for the baby's room. Isaac is almost 23 months and as my friend Genevieve has said about every age so far - I LOVE THIS AGE!! He is talking so much and singing all the time, he has such a cute little personality and I am cherishing every minute with him. He finishes all Bill's sentences when he reads his favorite books, he is getting great at the ABCs song and when you count 1, 2, 3 - he can finish all the way up to 10! I really hope bringing home the baby doesn't change our happy little man's personality ...

Because we want to keep life for Isaac as stable as possible, we are keeping Cesi on after we have the baby, and we couldn't be happier with that decision. As you can see from the pictures below, he is having a great summer with Cesi and his friends, including lots of pool time, playdates with Lussa, Cole, and Cesi's nephew Noah, and even a field trip to the zoo this week that looks like it was a blast.

Finally, Isaac had his first trip to the dentist this week. We went to a local dentist who is also a friend from the Hill. She has a baby a little older than Isaac and a new baby only a couple of weeks old. She came in to pick up some baby gifts while we were there and couldn't resist examining Isaac, which worked out great because he was totally comfortable with her. Cesi came with me to the appointment because I got my teeth cleaned too - between the two of us, we pulled it off without any drama and no cavities for either of us!
