It's been a low-key few weeks. Isaac is still enjoying daycare and has recently discovered Legos and now can almost always be found at the Lego table when I go down to visit him. I'm not sure that he gets the Legos concept, but he loves that he can stand on his own (with a few falls here and there) holding on because the table is the perfect height, and he loves banging the Legos onto the table - both fun to watch. Making the most of Silas's last day in daycare, we all took a fun field trip during work one day too for some frozen yogurt at Mr. Yogato and to the really cool park (designed by landscape architect extraordinaire Gabe Kruse) with fun infant swings.

Isaac is still trying new foods. He tolerated the beets and eventually seemed to enjoy them. He loved mangoes and we FINALLY got him to eat something green!! He was hesitant at first, but ultimately ate spinach with no gagging or puking - a big win in my opinion!!

We got in a fun surprise visit from Karen, Gabe and Colin. Colin is growing so fast - he's totally eclipsed Isaac in the weight department (did we mention he was born in January??!!) but Isaac definitely has him beat in the coordination department - for now :) While they were there they offered to take a family pic for us in front of our cherry tree which is beautiful when in bloom (and a pain in the a** to pick up when it starts shedding flowers!).

For the last several months Isaac was a dream to put to bed. We had the bedtime routine down: dinner, bath, playtime, book reading with dad (which Isaac LOVES) and then a last feeding with mom. He enjoyed the routine, then we would put him in the crib and he would just turn over and go right to sleep. Definitely earning the envy of the other moms in daycare and helping lull us into a false sense of comfort that we had the easiest baby in the world.

A couple of cute videos of Isaac bouncing in his Jumparoo and Isaac talking to Bill after the soccer game.

We've also been enjoying the weekends. The weather has been beautiful the past two weekends and we've frequented Eastern Market with Isaac in the stroller (he's getting to be a pro at holding the sippy cup, though we're not sure he actually drinks from it). We also went to watch Bill's soccer game - they are up 2-0 for the season!! Isaac doesn't necessarily have the attention span to watch the game, but his friend Carlito was there too and they both had fun pulling up grass and chasing their own mini-ball. Carlito's parents (who are soccer players too) came over after the game and we all had dinner with the boys being on very good behavior while the grown-ups ate!

UNTIL Isaac discovered he could stand up in his crib on his own. With his new found independence, Isaac has become somewhat...strong willed about controlling his own nap time. Until this weekend this wasn't really a problem, but all weekend long Isaac laughed at the routine and instead determined that putting him to bed would be an hour plus activity. He gets drowsy, I put him in his crib, and then he snaps to attention, rolls over and pulls himself up and starts stomping until I pick him up. He's smiling as he begins the process - at first. He makes sure I'm watching, and just stands there. I put him back down and he immediately pulls himself up again. I walk out of the room and he STANDS THERE FOR A LONG TIME (the picture of the monitor shows him still standing up a long time after I left the room). He's silent at first, and then starts getting upset. At this point he's so tired that I can't figure out why he hasn't gone to sleep, but I put him back down, he lets out a final protest cry, and seemingly relieved to be laying down, FINALLY goes to sleep.
I miss the routine...
