Isaac continues to have fun times with Rachael - he's checking out new parks (and watching Rach fall off the equipment), playing with fun toys, watching Baby Signing Time (no signs yet - we think its because he would have to take his fingers out of his mouth in order to sign!!), and experimenting with his flexibility.
He's also had lots of fun playdates - here he is swimming in Aidan's swimming pool (he kept climbing out, but we think he'll like it eventually!!); on a lunch playdate with Ashton and Julia at Eastern Market, and at a park playdate with Liz, Ian, Julia & Ashton.
Papa Rich and Grandma Sherry picked us up at the airport and we all met Jen, Max and the kids at a huge shoe store where all the kids got new shoes (thanks Grandma Sherry and Papa Rich!) after pulling down most of the shoes from the racks and making a huge (but fun) mess. Jaden and Talia loved "baby Isaac" and were great sports about playing with him - and even let him try his newly acquired kissing skills on them (He doesn't yet get the closed mouth thing- Talia giggled, but Jaden ran screaming after this wet one!!)
Meals together were an adventure- each time we left a restaurant we could hear them expressing relief!! Arielle is ahead of Isaac in the eating department, but they still seemed to enjoy trying to grab food from each other! I was worried that Isaac would grow less pleased with his homemade food as he watched Arielle chomping down on chicken fingers and pasta, but alas he happily ate his food (with some supplements, including NY pizza crust as a treat!)

We had a really great trip to New York City to meet Jen, Max, Jaden, Talia, & Arielle and to visit Papa Rich and Grandma Sherry. I was a little nervous about flying alone with Isaac given his newfound mobility and desire for independence. We had some time in the airport before the flights so I let him wander around. He tried to make friends with everyone, pondered whether he'd fit as a carry-on, and watched the airplanes move around out the window. On the way there I had him on my lap (less fun but he did end up sleeping a little) and on the way back we had the whole row, so he slept the whole way in his carseat!!

There were lots of taxi rides while we were in Manhattan. I was nervous about the no-carseat thing, but the kids LOVED it - Isaac jumped up and down and pounded on the windows and giggled as the wind blew on him from the open windows. Just like with the restaurants - the taxi drivers were not disappointed when we exited their cabs!!
One of the occasions we were celebrating in NY was Talia's birthday. She was in HEAVEN at her "American Girl" birthday party where her doll got her hairdone and we all enjoyed a delicious breakfast - including cake and ice cream!!
Since the kids were so well behaved, we wanted to take them somewhere they could run around and get out some energy - what better place than the Children's Museum?? The kids LOVED it - as did we!! Five floors of amazing activities geared to all the youngins, with lots of padded areas for new walkers and toys and activities for all ages. Mom-Mom came up on the Bolt Bus to join us for the day which was so much fun for all of us. She even kept up with all the kids as they played and joined us for pizza after.
After all that, the kids (and we) were exhausted. We got in a quick bath (particularly quick for Isaac who's used to having the tub to himself - he wasn't so into the shared experience and melted down approx 2 seconds after Jen snapped this picture!!), storytime with Papa Rich and then bed!! Isaac didn't do too well with the sleeping in NYC - when he woke up in the middle of the night and saw he wasn't alone, he decided it was playtime, and wouldn't go back to sleep until I fed him and rocked him for a while. Needless to say - the kids weren't the only ones tired out this weekend!!
Isaac got a special treat this weekend and finally got to meet Alison and Erin who schlepped all the way uptown to see him even though it was only for a few minutes because he napped for too long!
Finally, on Monday we took the kids on the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty (or Statue of Liverty as Jaden and Talia call it) which they really seemed seemed to love. Isaac obviously didn't get the history, but had fun walking around and making lots of friends on the boat!
