The Nanny Diaries and other adventures

So things have been going really well the last couple of weeks with Nanny Rachael. They've had some fun adventures - walking to Eastern Market, having lunch with Bill, hitting the local parks, an ill-fated attempt to get to the Federal services building to get fingerprinted, which included a spit-up incident that was funnier to Rach than the poor unsuspecting metro rider to her right. In the midst of the commotion they missed their stop and paid an accidental visit to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nonetheless, we are impressed she ventured on the metro by herself so soon - riding the metro in a new city with a baby takes some getting used to! The great metro debacle of 2009 was followed by a successful second attempt to get fingerprinted (sans spit up and Virginia detour). In addition, there was story-time at the local library, and lots of fun playtime at home. Isaac is very happy, getting a little tan (don't worry, he gets baby spf 50 daily!), taking long naps, learning sign language and eating yummy food made by Rach.

It is worth noting that we're a little concerned about what else Rach is teaching Isaac during the day (recently 21 and graduated college)... here he is with his face pressed up against the wine fridge, thinking he's ready to drive and walking into things! He was pulled over and briefly detained shortly after the center photo was taken. Don't drink and drive kids! Don't worry both his parents are lawyers : )

Stay tuned for more fun Rach & Isaac stories...

Meanwhile back at the ranch ... Isaac's new sign of affection for his Daddy is eating his nose (which is considerably less fun for Bill now that Isaac has two teeth!). This week we all had a fun trip to the swingset after work and Isaac also had a fun trip to visit his new friend Noah born to Carl & Kate a couple weeks back.

Isaac had fun with his Daddy on Sunday morning playing on the backyard swing - and then swinging from Bill to practice his newly acquired hand-eye coordination to pick up his teething ring. It's about time he he starts picking up all the stuff he throws on the floor just to watch us pick it up over and over!

Last but not least, we had a fun visit with Papa Rich and Grandma Sherry on Saturday night so they could get an Isaac fix. It was great to see them and as a bonus we got to sleep late when Isaac and Papa Rich enjoyed some bonding time from 7-8am. Papa Rich even changed a poopy diaper, well, sort of!!

Finally, Rach caught Isaac and I on video - he made me laugh and then kept laughing harder when I laughed ...and then as per usual, he got the hiccups!
