Social Butterfly

Isaac had a very social week this week starting with a fun visit to meet one of his newest friends Luke.
Then on Saturday, he had an actual playdate with his friend Amos who is exactly 10 days older than Isaac. It was the first time we had a playdate where the boys actually acknowledged each other and really interacted. They chased the ball and grabbed toys from each other - and there was even some wrestling!! It was a lot of fun to watch ...
On Sunday I took Isaac to Bill's soccer game where he got to hang out with Ashton and Killian and the babies all cheered on their daddies - although to no avail, as they had their first loss of the season :(
And finally, on Monday Isaac hung out with Ian. We took full advantage of my first Monday off and decided to check out Gymboree. The only Monday class that didn't fall smack in the middle of Isaac's naptime was a music class, so we met up with Liz and Ian and decided to check it out. The class was interesting - not sure if it's unrealistic to expect babies their age to want to sit still and play on command, or if I just have a particularly active child, but other than banging on the bongo at the beginning, which Isaac LOVED doing when they said bang bang - and wouldn't stop doing even when they were instructed to "rest - shhh" - that inspired even louder yells and banging from our boy! The group then got in a circle and the babies sat in the mommies' laps - well except for Isaac, he kept running into the middle of the circle and attacking the picture of the clown on the ground, which entertained me to no end, but didn't seem to thrill the "teacher" who was taking her job way too seriously. Isaac liked the drums a lot - so much so that he kept trying to steal Ian's (and his neighbor's on the other side) and liked to eat the bells (his and Ian's...) and LOVED the walled mirrors, which is where he spent the majority of the class, trying to kiss himself (also hilarious from my perspective). At the end of the class (which was 45 minutes, but felt like forever) we got to play in the Gymboree gym which made it worthwhile. Isaac and Ian had lots of fun rolling around on the mats and playing. Overall a good experience, but we're probably going to chose freeplay over structured classes for this boy...

(By the way we know that a haircut is in order and plan to get him one this weekend.)

Isaac is getting more independent with eating and at some point in many meals decides he wants to do it himself. You can imagine how this usually ends, with food all over everything except his mouth. We did catch a successful attempt at feeding on video though - so there is hope that I won't be feeding him until college :)

Finally, these are just some fun pictures of Isaac being silly.

This was too funny! I would love to have seen Henry (a that age or at any age really) sit still for that long. He started to SCREAM "Bye bye" in the dairy section of Waldbaums today. He nearly gave an old man a heart attack. Isaac is such a handsome little guy- he'll be glued to that mirror in no time. Now Henry loves his mirror time, too. But he's try to get a better view of his...I guess boys will be boys!
